Meet Carolyn Evans Hammond

Carolyn Evans Hammond is an internationally-recognized opinion leader in the world of wine. She’s a two-time bestselling wine book author, the wine columnist for The Toronto Star (syndicated), and a seasoned wine judge.
Over the past 15 years, she has appeared on CNN International, BON TV (China), GoingGlobalTV.com, Canada AM, and CITY-TV; she has been a guest on radio stations all over the United States; and she has written for top publications including Decanter, Wine Spectator, Wine & Spirit International, The Times (London), Maclean’s, Quench, Taste magazine and others.
Constantly learning, Carolyn spends much of her time tasting, judging wine, and meeting with winemakers to keep abreast of the industry. She is a longstanding member of the Circle of Wine Writers, holds the Diploma from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in the UK, and earned a BA from York University where she studied English and Philosophy. She has lived in many cities in North America and Europe and now resides in Toronto, where she was born.

Day 1
Tasting at Tawse Winery

From Niagara Airport, you will be driven to Tawse Winery for private tasting with award-winning winemaker Paul Pender. Situated on the lower slopes of the Niagara Escarpment, Tawse is a family-owned organic and biodynamic winery appreciated for its terroir-driven wines of depth and character.

Day 2
Lunch at Redstone Winery

Next, you will proceed to Redstone Winery for a three-course lunch paired to wines in the private dining area. This custom culinary experience by chef David Sider is paired to wines selected by Carolyn Evans Hammond.

Day 3
Tasting at 13th Street Winery

In the afternoon, your driver takes you to 13th Street Winery for an intimate tasting with world-renowned vintner Jean Pierre Colas. Colas, originally from Chablis, now makes some of the most riveting wines in Ontario. You will sample a curated selection of his wines in the gorgeous Gallery Room before heading back to the airport.

What is the capacity for each tour?

Each tour will have a capacity of either six or 12 people--one or two six-seater planes with club-seat configuration.

Is wine included in the package?

All wines served during this tour are curated by Carolyn Evans Hammond, and are included in the cost. Guests may purchase wine at the wineries, and may bring up to six bottles on the return plane trip. More may be purchased and shipped anywhere in Ontario direct from the winery.

What makes this trip unique?
